How else will teachers communicate with families?
1. Agenda Books- This is our daily tool for communication. Check here for homework, notes, and important messages.
2. Grading- Most assignments will be graded using the O-S-N scale that is on report cards. Occasionally, a teacher may specify assignment requirements by using a rubric, or convert scores to a point system. Teachers may sometimes choose to add a percentage grade in addition to the O-S-N scale.
3. Data Binders- We will send home the binders approximately once per month. Students will collect work samples for reading and writing, as well as math tests. We store some other important documents in there as well, such as interims.
4. Weekly Emails- Your homeroom teacher will send a short weekly update via email that summarizes the week's activities and provides some home-school connection suggestions.

Can I volunteer in the classroom or visit my student?
We love parent volunteers! We are always looking for parents to help work with small groups, complete clerical tasks, or provide extra help as needed. All classroom volunteers must have completed the CCPS Volunteer Training before being eligible to work in the classrooms or attend field trips. Contact us and we will work with you to accommodate your schedule.
Covid Protocols/Updates: CCPS is not currently allowing volunteers to enter the school buildings. If you are interested in volunteering for your child's teacher and have completed the training, please contact her to discuss ways you can help from home.

What is SGE's Discipline Policies?
Character Education is the SGE school-wide behavior policy. We focus on the Top Tiger Traits: Respect, Responsibility, Honesty, and Effort. Second grade fully participates in this program. We reward students with Paw Pride Tickets. Students can cash in their tickets for a choice of privileges. You can check the daily homework page for specific information regarding a day's behavior. Students can also earn a Tiger Note which may document behaviors that supported learning, but also document behaviors that disrupted learning. If your student brings home a Tiger Note, please sign both copies and return the white copy to school on the following day.
