1. Reading: Second grade students should read a minimum of 20 minutes per night, 4 nights per week. We encourage students to read a variety of texts and genres. We encourage parents to have discussions with their students about their reading to check for comprehension. Students will record their weekly reading homework on a log.

Students who complete the reading calendar located in the Agenda Book will earn coupons for pizza and other rewards from the ELA teacher! Click here to visit the official Book-It website. 3. Word Work: For most weeks, students will be assigned a practice page aligned to their current word work unit on Monday with a due date of Friday. Go to the Word Work tab under ELA for additional resources for word work. 4. Sight Words: All students have a Sight Word Folder in their Take-Home Folder. Spend a few minutes each night practicing reading and spelling sight words. Sight Word mastery help students become better readers and writers! |
1. Basic Facts: Students have a weekly Basic Fact Calendar with a variety of activities that will help them become fluent in basic facts.
